Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Oh, bullcrap! It's very simple:
Nobody seriously claims the Arab countries are modern, non-oppressing democracies. Everybody already KNOWS they're fucking mediaeval dictatorships.

Israel, OTOH, *does* make -- and is largely succeeding with -- a claim to be a modern Western-style country.

So effing obviously Israel's mediaeval habits of torture and oppression are more "newsworthy".

Sheesh, man -- how the F can you not see that?

New It's a point but..
the spirit may violate Cholmondeley's Annular Grillage constant:

What's good for the goose.. gander too

I'll agree that, "just because Those assholes are behaving like traditional assholes - it's OK for us to do it too", is somehow implicit in these number games anyway. And is stupid by inspection. Like much else from there - and 'about' there.

Perhaps the Israelis are somewhat hoist by similar petard to the Russ: overdependence on techno- to equalize the numbers and provocations.

Russ gotta keep their nukes, as they cannot afford to float an army with Windoze, Itaniums and mp3 in every sojer's backpack.. (that the nuke arm is deteriorating daily - is Quite another problem).

Israel can't send a bunch of "equally armed - with rocks" sojers into a gathered mob, for macho hand-to-hand er 'fair' combat - either. So what to do? Walk into the sea and drown (the only 'solution' acceptable to at least the Loudest-mouthed F\ufffdhrers of the opposition. Still.) ??

It's gonna be a crap shoot.

Our bureaucracy and our laws have turned the world into a clean, safe work camp. We are raising a nation of slaves.

New Re: so it is amnesty internationals charter
It not possible for an organization involving humans to be totally fair and unbiased, human nature precludes it.

But beyond that there is a huge problem hidden in the word 'fair.' How do you define 'fair' in the context of human rights violations? Is a country that imprisons hundreds more or less barbaric then a country that kills dozens? Is a government that said they would kill anybody that disagrees more or less vile then one that proclaims it's openness and then kills the dissidents? How do you compare a country that bans all reporters and has rumors of deaths coming out against a country that lets is violence be documented?

These questions don't have objective answers to begin with.
