Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Fucking clueless admins/managers
I've just spent the day in helpdesk hell. Upgrades here and there, all introduced in the last few days from 5 different departments, produced the following tasty tech nightmare-
Oracle upgrade requires IE5.5 to to reach web interface. Citrix/Metrix requires IE5.0. Several needed company apps and a few company products require IE6.0.

So no matter what we give them, something gets broken. Of course, none of the different groups responsible for these different areas bothered to ask what the requirements for other areas are. And no one considered actually writing something to international standards. Gotta be microsoft.

I can hear the beer calling my name.
"A civilian gang of thieving lobbyists for the military industrial complex is running the White House. If to be against them is considered unpatriotic -- Hell, then call me a traitor."

New Naive Q
Since my NS 4.03 is still here, as well as various betas and the 1.01 Mozilla:

Is IE so besotted with duelling-dlls in \\Sys that - all 3 cannot be installed on a machine? [and 'work' for MS-values] PITA to have a sticky-note telling you which to launch for which operation -- but would that bit of silliness be easier than roll-back of all the other stuff? Ah then - maybe they want 'em all at same time.. yeah, figures.

(Yes, we lazy people look for simplistic solutions first - esp. with 100 GB HDs everywhere) Also, we lazy people cannot *imagine* what it would be like to "run a Religious M$-only shop" while unarmed or forbidden to throttle; not have Moz or a variant.. and the mere thought of that - -

also leads to imagining suicidal more-likely homicidal thoughts. And a great {sigh} of relief I don't gotta!

Condolences,

Ashton Naif
New No.
You can only install one instance of IE on a Windows installation.

New IE doesn't install like most programs.
It installs as an "OS upgrade", not like a program, even though it looks like the latter. I believe some later versions let you leave the previous version lurking around, but I don't know how successful, effective or truly useful this is. IE tends to assume that there is only one version of it installed.

"Ah. One of the difficult questions."

New Ah.. silly of me not to guess the ob-Bestial Plot.
