New Drug use as formal military policy
[link|http://news.independent.co.uk/world/americas/story.jsp?story=320952|Indendent.UK]

That soldiers take stimulants isn't news to anybody paying any attention. But it appears that things are getting out of hand, and some of the recent friendly fire incidents may have been caused by pilots in drug induced paranoia.

I think combat missions need to be made short enough that pilots do not have to regularly use stimulants. If this means assembling a temporary airstrip near the front lines, then so be it.

New A military that controls its solders with drugs?
This kind of goes back, when Germany used Yaba as a combat drug. It is now overtaking Thailand and spreading to the US as well. It has serious side-effects of driving the user into insanity with extreem paranoia. But they do give enhanced strength and a surge of energy. They also cause short-term memory loss and other things.

In Thailand there are many reports on the news of Yaba users taking hostages (mostly children or women are taken as hostages) and getting into a stand-off with Police.

In Thai, "Ya" means Medicine, and "Ba" means Crazy. That is why it is caused Crazy Pills or Crazy Medicine. It drives people crazy that take it.

I am free now, to choose my own destiny.

Cocaine, it will also be recalled, first came into common use after a German army physician issued it to Bavarian soldiers. During World War II, the American, British, German, and Japanese armed forces similarly issued amphetamines to their men to counteract fatigue, elevate mood, and heighten endurance.

New Don't forget alchohol...
Heck, wasn't 'Indian ale' designed for the sole purpose of being transported with British troops?
