New Font Choice - For Verdana-Free Machines
Is there a quick way you can change the default font? I get green when I see Verdana :)

Note: I had to modify an APL font so I got to know a lot about fonts, also because at the same time I was upgrading to X 4.2 and FreeType-2.0.6, which apparently had a much finer TT antialiasing algorithm. During all this I became totally free of the Verdana font, but have hesitated to delete it. I do have Helvetica but that looks shitty by comparison with, say, certain of the Lucida sans fonts (forgot the foundry). Verdana has a low height to width ratio, so it looks fat. I think Verdana was mainly an effort at a readable screen font on smallish monitors, mostly 800x600. Arial looks very poor at low resolution and I would be free of that too, except it makes a good menu font (I use Abadi Light). I've been TNR free since the early 90s.

Except for this nit, this software seems to be very well written. There are never any problems.

New Done.
See "Edit Preferences".

Let me know what font families to add to the list; I only have 4 in there right now.

New Added... but...
those aren't the actual CSS font families, are they?

I put in times-new-roman for Times New Roman, as an example. If they aren't correct, let me know.

New Results:
Georgia works as expected. Times and Times New Roman produce the same thing (Times). Trebuchet doesn't change the font.

Hmm...

Wonder why Georgia would work and Trebuchet not?

New Re: Results:
No idea. If you can figure out what the font family is, let me know.

It gets placed in the .css stuff at the top of every page (view source for details). I think that's the only place I use font families... let me know if I missed one somewhere.

New Re: Results:

body { font-size: 100%; font-family: times new roman; }
td { font-size: 90%; font-family: times new roman; }

That works for Times New Roman. This works for Trebuchet:

body { font-size: 100%; font-family: trebuchet ms; }
td { font-size: 90%; font-family: trebuchet ms; }

(I obviously forgot the trailing "MS". Doh.)

New Garamond
I've got one beef with it -- there seem to be some extended characters which don't render properly. Other than that, I was trying several other fonts, including New Century Schoolbook, Verdana, Times, and several others. Garamond to my eye is the best proportioned proportional, serifed font for online reading. To the extent that failure to render a small handful of characters is acceptable.
