Welcome to IWETHEY!

New WoooHooo... (this is GEEKY even for ME)
Apparently Linus has finally put in Rick VanRiel's rmap patch along with other things.....

[link|http://linux.bkbits.net:8080/linux-2.5/cset@1.648|BitKeeper Changeset]

And if you look at the [link|http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.5/ChangeLog-2.5.27|Changelog for 2.5.27], you can see both the RMAP change and USB-OHCI is NOW GONE and DEAD... no-longer being USED....

IMNSHO, USB-OHCI was the worst way to talk to USB... not really very scalable... not really very stable... not really very versatile...

Well, Bill... Maybe can I get that USB NIC back... :) Just kidding.. I'll buy another for a whopping $26 including shipping... and start working on 2.5.28+... ICK I hate coding...

I am really starting to get excited about 2.6. MAYBE.... just MAYBE it might actually be the first Kernel I am gonna be feeling comfy with... but then again... 2.5 has until October to get stuff into it too work out stability and "other" issues... ;)

New Make you a $50 bet
Payable next year at Bill Patient's house.

That 2.6 isn't released by January.

If you feel uncomfortable with that bet, then tell me when you think there are even odds of it being released, and I will figure out which side of the bet I want to be on. :-)

Cheers,
Ben

New I'd do it in a heartbeat... IF....
Everyone quits bitching about all the "coporate lead" development in the 2.5 kernel and everyone stops developing new features for 2.4 then forward porting for 2.5... and getting really bad instability/no workey...

Then, and only then, will I take you on that bet...

If everyone were to do that before say... September... I'd betya on March, MAYBE February...

BTW, that is what I meant about "Other" issues... ;)

But, I'd rather do a "gentleman's bet", I am cheap.

New Dang...
No easy $50 for me I guess. :-)

And a wakeup call for the morons out there. Corporate leads get access to equipment that corporations want. If you want Linux to run on that really cool hardware, you need people associated with that hardware in a prominent role. Period.

Unless you have an infinite supply of partially employed hackers with serious hardware budgets, hacking that kind of platform is going to cost someone money. That's life.

Cheers,
Ben

Only Olaf Stapledon ever succeeded on this kind of scale, and Olaf Stapledon is dead.
