New Never heard of him
At lunch, we were discussing how things come in three's. The lady who does Dear Abby came up. Ted Williams came up. Then someone said "And then, of course, there's Rod Steigar."

I looked at him blankly. "Who?"

"Rod Steigar. You know. The Heat of the Night."

I say, "Never heard of it." Total shock around the table. They started trying to get me to recognize something he'd done. This movie. That movie. Another movie. I finally recognized "Mars Attacks", and then someone mentioned "On the Waterfront" which I've at least heard of although I've never bothered to see/watch it.

As you might be able to tell, I'm not exactly a movie buff.
New s'OK.. he was merely one of the Greats - but
we don't have 'Great' anymore..

We have 'adequate' and occasionally Neat-O in a scene or two.
And.. we have Digital! (no more pimples n'warts n stuff - and.. don't need no stinkin air-brush neither!)

Best to get used to what we Gots. It's just a bummer when ya think of what we Might have had - or as with Steiger: what we Had.

Hey.. C3PO - now there's Class!

New Re: The Pawnbroker
An outstanding, class-of-its-own performance. Perhaps 2 or 3 other actors could have pulled it off. But Steiger was masterful. A brilliant and compelling role played to perfection.
"We are patriotic citizens too. Patriotism means 'love of country',
caring about its people, its ecosystem, and others around us. Not giving
blind loyalty and a blank check to George W. Bush. We are patriotic enough
to care about the long term effects instead of just the short term gain.

Therefore it is our patriotic duty to guard our country and our constitution
against people and forces hiding behind the flag."

New Should have gotten an oscar for fist full of dynamite
a more compelling job of a simple man caught up in a revolution he didnt want and ending up a leader.
thanks,
Bill
