Maybe you got 100% increase in the last 4 years. That's an incredibly high number. But it's easy for the math to work. Say maybe you have two in five.

Without that repeal then the states that want to be a free-for-all gun-wise will be.

Sure, we might get incremental things like universal background checks. But only when a professional sells a gun. Unless there is a federal gun registration law, there will never be an incentive for an individual buyer/seller pair to do a background check. And a registration law will never happen because that's the starting of creating the list to take away the guns.

Whether or not that taking away the guns is the goal of the people making these laws doesn't matter. The people with the guns are terrified of the authorities coming and taking them. The starting point is registering them to make that possible.

It is illegal at the federal level to create a federal registration list. Illegal. It is actually against the law to make a law to force a felon to register his illegal gun because that would be self-incrimination and you can't force a citizen to incriminate themselves. A drug dealer could pull the same logic with tax stamps, but since the drugs themselves are illegal to start off with, I guess no one ever thought it was worth taking that to the supreme Court.

I don't see Congress ever changing that.
