New Labour can't force a GE on this matter (or at all, tbh)
The smart money is on one of the following taking the PM job, which won't be until well after Xmas, because of the timescales of the processes involved. It's all about who will lose the fewest seats at the next election.

Gove - the Pob-a-like who is one of Westminster's most Machiavellian schemers; some consider him to be the source of at least some of the current leaks.

Sunak - he looks good and sounds good and hasn't managed to put his foot in his gob to date. He has a couple of disadvantages: he's short, he's brown (the Tories are racist af, despite what they might say and do on the surface), and his wife is exceedingly rich (the Tories are just as capable of being envious as anyone else)

Truss - extremely popular with the Tory party membership. Despite being demonstrably thicker than a whale omelette, she has also avoided notable gaffes throughout the pandemic. The Tory Jeremy Corbyn - wildly popular in the club, not so much with the electorate.

Outsiders:

Hunt - another one who looks and sounds good. Viscerally hated by the employees of the NHS, though, and there's a lot of those. He's been sounding like the voice of reason lately, which is weird indeed if you've ever followed UK politics.

Javid - Bit of a nothingburger. Brown, so has that disadvantage, but hasn't noticeably fucked up lately, and he's also principled - he resigned rather than let Cummings choose his staff.

It's like Parkay: You think it's LRPD, but it's not.
