New IreadLRPD

I didn't realize until I spent Thanksgiving with a boyfriend's family that other families do not, in fact, head outside after the meal to throw pumpkins off the roof and watch them explode.

Satan (impatiently) to Newcomer: The trouble with you Chicago people is, that you think you are the best people down here; whereas you are merely the most numerous.
- - - Mark Twain, "Pudd'nhead Wilson's New Calendar" 1897
New That's nothing
My wife's family threw the turkey carcass onto the back neighbor's flat roof. For many years. And every new inlaw had to do it. Under pressure. Even the women.

Tight inner city row home neighborhood.

I escaped. I only know from the stories.
New Was there any wildlife that could drag it off?
Or was there an ever-growing pile of bones?

New The rats ate it but left the bones
Ever-growing piles of carcasses. They walk the roof years later and had a good laugh.
New I'm imagining the owners going up there someday for something unrelated ... "Whaaaaat???"

He's so far to the right of the bell curve he could drop a marble and it wouldn't roll away.
