New And what made that solution politically acceptable, when previously (and ever since) it hadn't been?
--

New The War, of course.
But war in and of itself did not get us out of the Depression. It was our Socialist reaction to it that got us out. Everyone worked (even the wimmens!) on what the Government says to work on and they all had to save their earnings because there were few consumer products. Then the war ends, manufacturing switches to consumer products and everybody's got money to spend on these shiny new products.

Nader has often quoted his mother as saying, "Capitalism will never fail because Socialism will always be there to save it."

If we had better leadership, we could once again look to Socialism to not only help us recover from this horrible pandemic, but help us combat climate change in the future.

It's mourning in America again.
New Testimonial, then..
Even as a tyke I noted the various ways in which my Grammma not-the-Bircher had numerous containers by kitchen sink re the various critters at her 'ranch': aka rabbits, chickens et al: Nothing-wasted was the point--though these were also about general thriftiness-from-experience of Kapitalismo's 'actuality'.

More relevant: there were 'Drives' whereby Everything! from iron gates through [n+1] of anything mentioned in the Periodic Chart ... also filtered into memory. It is no exaggeration that virtually every 'normal' person pledged (actual allegiance to) Helping the governments at all levels: to Do most any suggestion of the whole class of Minions (sans any overtones) which this tyke might--much later have deemed?--some coerced Authoritarianism ..or other 'stick'.
E Pluribus just Was bloody-Unum. To this tyke, anyway.

Loved Nader's quip ..but it's still Iffy because Shrub :-/
