New Agreed. There are no perfect angels in this war.
As the saying goes, let he who is without sin throw the first stone.

The key here is not to assign blame but rather to find a solution.
I feel that an international council must act as mediators/negotiators and help each side to achieve victory. It has to be a win-win or the fighting will go on (and on and on and on.)
As other Arab nations have suggested, the US must lead the charge to find a peaceful solution. So far, the US has seemingly tended to side with Israel but appears to be starting to understand the pain/despair of the Palestinian people. Just as the US worked closely with Arab countries after 9/11, the same opportunity exist here and with similar urgency.

New Except that... this is planet Earth 2002
'Wealth / Power' prefers the current division of the planet's Spoils -- and wants even More disparity. Example: the US has 20-25% [of many categories]. Is the US satisfied? (even) Yet? Fill in the rest of the players, the wannabes and the Successful.

Suppression of Revolt\ufffd is the current worldwide game played by the Rich against the vast majority of the total population. The spread of 'income' makes the above scenario unarguable IMhO. Merely examine the range:

From (~~) <$1-USD/day in.. [fill in the several State names]

TO

>$1-MILLION-USD/day for Michael Eisner [fill in the near-to names]

And you imagine that "Peace" is on the agenda of the Powerful, as some... humanitarian... Goal?

I submit that the correct word is - and for a very long time has been - Submission.

"Eschew blame, find solutions, win/win" - these are Wagg-Edd biz SLOGANS applied to a Christian fantasy World of Unified 'personal Beliefs' that Sound Good to Me [and to all 'Me's now exactly alike]
(except that most.. who already mouth these slogans, are as hypocritical about applying them as: their opponent 'heathens' ever were!)

What we are inhabiting currently is:

Planet of the (juvenile) Apes Meets Lord of the Flies

{sigh} Sorry Brett, but - it's not in just biz-talk where all the fine-words are premeditated Lies: it's all of the Nation-States as well. Including 'Ours'. Ask a few thousand US citizens Consumers:

"What will you give up, to help create barely liveable conditions for all [just 'children' say = to make it EZier to answer] on the planet ?"

Rest case.
New Re: Some solutions are part of the problem

Arafat came back from camp David after losing his nerve during what could have been a historic and workable solution.

Arafat has always been a fighter and under pressure resorts to what he knows best. The real evil of the period following camp David was that Israel lost confidence in Barak & he was ousted. Arafat resorted to what he knows best & unleashed the 2nd Intafada - the terrible thing about starting a cycle of violence is that it breeds greater violence & racial hate. Arafat just wasn't a man of peace and that awful act best illustrates this.

By unleashing the puppies of war, the dogs began howling & gnashing their teeth (9/11 is symptomatic of a generalised hate & blame on 'them' (USA) for supporting Israel).

Behind many of those children were gunmen who were shooting at Israeli troops to provoke counter attack in the expectation that some of the children would die & thus be saleable as child martyrs.

Blowing up Israelis became a follow on act after enough martyrs had been created. The worst incident waqs when the French TV crew filmed the Palestinian boy being killed beside his father. That achieved more than the Arafat camp had hoped for.

What no camera crew has filmed yet is a bomb made of nails ripping off a baby's arm & leg off in slow motion & shredding the baby's mother. Much harder for a French film crew to capture.
