There are signs Beijing doesn't want to "invade" Hong Kong, but it's mostly of the "they haven't yet" answer. Trouble is, the longer Beijing maintains a hardline behind Carrie Lam, the greater face they have to lose if they do eventually start giving in. That's a very frightening game of chicken! Wade.
