"There's no doubt that the Russians did interfere in the election. And I think the interference, although not yet quantified, if fully investigated would show that Trump didn't actually win the election in 2016. He lost the election and he was put into office because the Russians interfered on his behalf," Carter said at the Carter Center's retreat in Leesburg, Virginia. He's checking a box, in the most sarcastic way possible. Which is consistent with how Trump has responded to questions of late as to whether he will raise Russia's election interference with Putin at this G20 gathering. Over the weekend, NBC's Chuck Todd asked Trump about broaching the subject of Russia's role in the 2016 election with Putin. "I may if you'd like me to do it, I'll do that," Trump responded. Here's why all of this is so appalling (if you don't already know): The United States intelligence community and the nearly two-year long Mueller investigation both affirmed this basic fact: Russia actively, aggressively and systematically sought to meddle in the 2016 election in order to help Trump and hurt Clinton. They took these actions because they believed Trump would be better for their interests than Clinton would be. They view the 2016 operations as a giant success and are extremely likely to pursue more attempts at interference in the 2020 election. Trump didn't need the intelligence community to tell him that Russia was meddling in the election in the hope of damaging Clinton and helping him. He knew that while it was happening. It's not that Trump "doesn't believe" the Russians helped him that is the problem. The problem is that he knows they did and are likely to do it again and he wants that assistance. That's the problem. That's impeachable on its own - IF and only IF anyone's left who believes, at face value, what's printed in the Constitution and not the implementation we've seen over the last forty years. bcnu, Mikem It's mourning in America again.

No. They get it. They like it. My wife sees stories on the news about the concentration camps and says that whoever gets the Democratic nomination should run those stories on a loop for their commercials. I keep telling her: That's what Trump's base wants. Stop making arguments based on what we want. If you want to flip any of his base you have to make arguments based on what they want. -- Drew
