The previous holders built the ludicrous EB 110... in Italy, AFAICR. VW built up the factory in Molsheim, France, I would think pretty much from scratch. Like they developed their first car, the Bugatti Veyron.
Its successor, the Bugatti Chiron -- with it's 8-l 16-cyl 4-turbo 1500-hp engine and ~260 mph / 420 kph top speed -- is, AFAIK, the most powerful and fastest street-legal production car you can currently buy. Unless all 500 they were going to build are sold out already (at $3M a pop).
