Apparently the disease resets the immune system. Bummer.
I’m told that in 1954, before I had mastered the trick of forming long-term memories, I contrived to be afflicted simultaneously with chickenpox and measles, and that my survival was briefly in doubt. I rallied in the event, and have endured at sufficient length to afflict these precincts in my grey hairs. But sheesh, if you’d told me fifty years ago that vaccines would be a contentious issue in the XXI century, I’d have given you a funny look.
