New If you want to understand the gestation of n+1 of the avalanche of new syn-drugs
Planet Money explains in great detail, with several of the scientific originators speaking on the show. [Should appear in the list there for re-view, in a few days; look for "Synthetic Reefer Madness".

Synthetic Reefer Madness

The business of getting people high used to require fields of poppies or marijuana, and the farmers to farm them. Over the last two decades, a new generation of potent synthetic drugs has revolutionized the illicit drug trade. These drugs are cheap, easy to make in factories, and difficult to regulate. Now, it's possible to become a kingpin with little more than an internet connection and an email address for a chemical plant in China. Today the show looks at one synthetic drug — Spice — and tell the story of how it helped unleash a revolution.

tl;dr ... look to tens of thousands new deaths as this (now and next too) out-of-control $$$-making machinery; it just won't be intimidated by merely adding new formulae to the already overloaded data-dumps behind each week's New Laws.

{{sigh}}

It ain't Easy Being (stoned)-Green. You'd have to be nutso (having heard just this program) getting Any of this stuff except maybe from a Toxicology-specialist-buddy. Most shall never hear this npr-episode and bloody well won't be given a link==that's Bizness-Drumpf-style. These bastards,, like Drumpf Don't Care about their 'base' (as in free- or politically), never mind [Hah! ... -vs- Dollars] morally.

RIP: those who are about to die from a lab-error or dosage off by n-orders-of-magnitude :-/

New Pills
>> "for those who are about to die from a lab-error or dosage off by n-orders-of-magnitude..."

It may not be the dosage, but the pill itself.

"Patients who were prescribed sleeping pills were at least three to five times more likely to have died during the study than were the patients not prescribed sleeping pills."

This is explained in a new book : (available at your local library)

The other thing about medicine is non-adherence.

Dosage notwithstanding, if you don't take it, you don't get the supposed benfit:

https://www.ensocare.com/resource-center/medication-noncompliance-why-wont-patients-take-their-meds

"Among hypertensive patients 89,000 premature deaths could be avoided each year with appropriate medication treatment.

Common behaviors include:

1 in 2 people missed a dose
1 in 3 forgot if they took the med
1 in 4 did not get a refill on time"

(much more in the article, and an infographic!))

And so it goes...
New good medicine habits
I wake up and before I whiz or do anything else choke down 2 pills. If you have to take daily pills be religious about it.

New Same.
It has to be tied to something that happens every day at the same time.

Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Anderson.
New For me it's just vitamins, but yeah
I've got the pill next to the tub of protein powder that's my normal lunch. If I end up in a lunch meeting instead I usually forget to take the pill when I come back.
