It was Clarkson shovelling coal in a steam train, May in a Jaguar XK210, and Hammond on a Black Shadow. Although it was quite a spectacular race (and ended with Clarkson seriously worn out and absolutely covered in soot), Hammond was sadly out-classed by the motorbike and was not strong enough to even kick start it... Wade.

IIRC, Ashton said before that it was clear that Hammond didn't know how to start it (compression release lever, or something). That incarnation of TG was a great show and had fabulous cinematography, but so much of it made one want to pull one's hair out. :-) Cheers, Scott.
