Welcome to IWETHEY!

New We may be grateful
…that the Dread Butch Hillary was not elected, yes?

cordially,
New No, we shouldn't be grateful
she would have been such a superior president that the mind boggles at how stupid the orange-haired shitgibbon's base is for not accepting that fact.

Satan (impatiently) to Newcomer: The trouble with you Chicago people is, that you think you are the best people down here; whereas you are merely the most numerous.
- - - Mark Twain, "Pudd'nhead Wilson's New Calendar" 1897
New Do you accept the fact that my shoes are brown?
You don't know what color they are, and you don't care. And neither one of those facts has any bearing on who you voted for.

Same with "Who would be the best president?" Lots of people don't know, and don't care, but that's not why they voted for him.

New perhaps RC forgot the </sarcasm> tag
because if he didn't and really meant what he said, then my response is totally appropriate.

New Was referring to his base
They don't support him because he's the best president.

New I took it as YAN dig at me.

It's mourning in America again.
New Are we all that mean? :)

"There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that "my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge."

-- Isaac Asimov
New The sarcasm tag was implicit, I’d hoped
It was not aimed at mmoffitt or any individual here.

cordially,
New I'm disappointed.
You rarely miss an opportunity to reiterate that my lack of support for Hillary in 2016 in part caused this menace. A "fact" I do not accept, btw.
bcnu,
Mikem

It's mourning in America again.
New I will repeat, mmoffitt
…that despite our sundry long-standing differences on many of the issues of the day, I respect you as an honest interlocutor with whom I actually share a number of stances. While I feel that your principled abstention from the resistance to Trump’s election formed a part, however infinitesimal, of the trends that have brought us to this disaster, I do not assert that you “caused” this.

I trust that as we approach the next election cycle we can agree that even if the alternative put up against Trump is a “corporatist Democrat,” this will be preferable to Trump, that “heightening the contradictions” can wait for another time, and that we will each contribute our mite to preventing the greater evil from prevailing.

cordially,
New It is thereby agreed.
bcnu,
Mikem

It's mourning in America again.
New To be signed, witnessed and deposited with the College of the Vestals
New The only upside of Trump being President is ...
NO ONE can EVER AGAIN claim to be ignorant of how truly despicable are (at least 40% of) the American People.

We should mount a plaque on the Statue of Liberty's platform that reads, "Lasciate ogni speranza, voi ch'entrate."

Mikem

New Omnes.. omnes..
While the dis-US is on a Truthiness bender.. er, Hah!..pigs. flying?

1) Change the National symbol to (a particularly scraggly real Fat-cat) Vulture.
2) Append "..your tired, your poor" with Bring Money or Die from the death of a thousand cuts.
3) E Pluribus Unum + the tired cyclops-eye pyramid: replace these with a particularly well-timed pic of Towers converting Potential- into Kinetic-energy.
4) All-purpose New Credo: Eat the Rich (first, before they make you an appetizer, down you like an oyster.)
5) Emulate the immortal Mr. T. Pratchett: "We lock up all our politicians on election; it saves time."
6) "Oh say can you see..? (any housing available under $100K/yr) that ain't got rats, leaks and asbestos painted over with the leaded variety."
.
.
7) Unto --> near-∞ (via Cantor's Rulez of comparos)--add your own; I ain't got all day for "How do I love thee? let me count the ways"
