Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Apple's nagging moi about Mojave..
As. If. I should just happen to miss the 'try-me-later' as a NO ... with YES the default. Repeatedly.

So then W.T.F. should I?
Current on my early-'09 24" iMac is El Cap. 10.11.6 which (finally over the sequence of auto-fixes etc.) has been stable. I could care less about mysterious dark screens and similar fol de rol. nor do i ever want it to be just like a *cel-fone Just Maybe (likely!) Apple, in its miserly $$saving attitude towards all desktops shall soon make it mandatory ... but 'promising' Only-that-way to keep Safari + OS useable ... even after the 3-4 years? they expect you to deposit more money for some 2-mm screen and everything soldered-in/potted in military-grade epoxy.
* at least they couldn't make me swipe things on this display..

Doubt there's anyone in the IGM who has my make/year for comparo, but.. re Mojave:
Does it Suck ..in various other facets? Run slower-enough on my hdwre to be yan [-]?
Thanks for any illumination.

I, Claudius er, moi. :-)
New Using it on this mid-2012 i7 MBP with 16GB and SSD.
I just installed it a few days ago, so I just have preliminary opinions.

The dark theme is OK - probably good on battery, but this is always plugged in. Dunno if it's good for eyes too much older than mine though (e.g. the white text on black background for the menu bar seems less crisp).

I almost exclusively use Chrome on this. One thing I have noticed is that refreshing on B-J doesn't always seem to "take" (e.g. the number of comments doesn't always update correctly), but I don't know if that's something about Mojave or something about FYPW on B-J (it's going to be updated soon and maybe some tinkering is going on behind the scenes).

Otherwise, I don't notice any issues. I haven't run any benchmarks or the like. It seems like just an incremental update to me - no speedups or slowdowns.

YMMV!! :-)

HTH. Good luck!

Cheers,
Scott.
New Pretty much my experience as well.
Occasionally, the dark theme makes stuff tougher to read perhaps because the app is not up to date.

I browse with Firefox for one thing.

The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that "my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge."

New Dark theme will not affect battery
That's an OLED thing.

LCD backlight is on all the time, whether the screen is all white or all black.
New D'Oh! Thanks.
New Gracias.. shall punt ..until I no choice.
New Re: Apple's nagging moi about Mojave..
I’d say if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, particularly if you’re satisfied with current system stability. Myself, I rather like some of the promised features, including the “dark” look, but I’m not disposed to risk the smooth environment I presently enjoy under “High Sierra” (I’m particularly keen not to put at hazard the inexplicably untethered suite of applications in Mudbrick Systems’ “Fetid Fog” family of subscription software, the free access to which has effectively shaved off $700 from the 2017 purchase price of Big Cheese.

Should I ever prove adventurous*, however, I can install the upgrade on “AltBoot,” my secondary emergency SSD, and, should this go sideways, return to High Sierra and restore Altboot to its standby state from an archival clone stored in a nearby file drawer.

cordially,

*Big Cheese is at the ancient end of models that can support Mojave, but its graphics card maybe not so much.
New Thanks, al punte.
Yes, I can see that you possess the chops actually to wish to use the new features (and love that your ultimate-backup possesses the sanity of a Full [air....gap/] 'twixt that)--and anything clandestinely poisoning via-stealth-Intarweb/Cloud nastiness, er "to boot".

I (quite irRationally, I suppose) react against the stuffing of precious neurons still passing a POST- cksum verification ..with even more-Techno-infinite sources as interfere with the much more pleasurable time-sinks of (well, you know..) authors who, by example: prepare us for an Unknowable futchah in this desert now vastly infected with fugitives from LIlliput; these forever keening over the *means of achieving Orangeness-in-Their-skin tones too/confusing that: with the Whiteness they thought they revered (just a w.a.g., of course.)
* Little-Endian -vs- Big-Endian?

tl;dr ... Techno ever shalt be: an infinite sump; I harbor no new desires towards that endless-end, y'know?
[Exception.. OK were I gifted with a used Bugatti Veyron? I daresay I'd want to have the Owners-Manual-100#-Library so as to marvel at just WHAT pure-Excess is seen to entail--Shirley another mental-fault.]
