New 1) Completely agree on the naming
2) I just read an article about how Google is changing the value proposition with the Pixel line. Yes, they have top-end hardware specs, but three years of guaranteed (and fast) updates means your device *stays* cutting edge far longer.

And you can buy last year's model, or a used 2-year-old, and still have the latest software.

New Google has long bean jealous of Apple's control.
And with regards to OS updates, I don't blame them. My Sony is still a good piece of hardware and it's only 4 years old. But Sony haven't released a newer OS for it than 5.1. :-/
