New poetic justice?
Seen elsewhere:
The issue of Kavanaugh’s lying is one his conservative defenders have only barely begun to acknowledge. It is probably the central weakness in his candidacy at the moment. Kavanaugh wrote his opening statement the night before his testimony. It was intended to rally his party with red-meat partisan rhetoric, and lead directly to a rapid vote in a flourish of tribalistic emotion. It was not intended to survive a week of close factual scrutiny by the media or potentially the FBI.
In this connection, I’ve also seen it suggested that BK’s rant was intended as something like the “St. Crispin’s Day” speech in Henry V, a stirring call to arms intended to rally the faithful and to stiffen the spines of the wavering. In the LGM blog, a couple of comments took this notion and ran with it. I have lifted, modified, consolidated and expanded these, and so cannot claim it as original work, although I think my edits have improved the thing a bit:
This day is called October first:
He that outlasts this week, and is confirmed
Will blow a raspberry at his foes
And sneer him at the name of Clinton.
He that shall by his vote repeal Roe v. Wade
Will yearly on the vigil toast his school,
And say “These ’skis I had on Beach Week.”
Drunk men black out; and witnesses ignored,
But he’ll remember, with advantages,
What Ralphs he did that day: then shall our names,
Familiar in his mouth as stale beer—
Bart O’Kavanaugh, Judge and Squi,
Donny and Timmy, PJ and Bernie—
Be in their flowing cups freshly blotto.
His story shall be told at Georgetown Prep
And all Renate alumni evermore
From this day to the ending of the world,
Will smirk and claim that they enjoy’d her favors.
We few, we happy few, we band of boofers:
For he today that chugs his beer with me
Is my frat brother; be he sockless drunk
These hundred kegs will cause the room to spin.
And feminists in Princeton now abed
Shall think themselves deprived they were not here,
And hold their virtue cheap while any speaks
Who groped them on Devil's Triangle day.

via a Cambridge Forum lecture:

Poetry is a language against which we have no defense.
Dunno if that makes your opus umm indefensible; strange word, that.
