New Whiplash! Annals of international diplomacy, then & now
There was a time long ago, meine Kinder, when the talking heads over at the House That Ailes Built were very, very concerned when a president even thought about talking to our “enemies,” but it turns out that they were only concerned about that president (on a related topic, The Atlantic reported this gem the other day):
“People criticize [Trump] for being opposed to everything Obama did, but we’re justified in canceling out his policies,” one friend of Trump’s told me. This friend described the Trump Doctrine in the simplest way possible. “There’s the Obama Doctrine, and the ‘Fuck Obama’ Doctrine,” he said. “We’re the ‘Fuck Obama’ Doctrine.”
Anyway, here’s a compilation of then&now clips from Amerika’s most trysted news outlet. Fasten your neck brace and remember that We have always been at war with Eastasia! (note: on my machine it’s necessary to toggle the sound on, as it apparently defaults to “mute”)

cordially,
New The mute might be your browser
A recent chrome update (attempts to) mutes all auto-play videos by default.

New Which is worse? Fox News or Pravda?
That might not be a fair question since they're both outlets for the same despots.

It's mourning in America again.
New I would respond—seriously—
that Fox News is far more poisonous today. Pravda in 2018 is a shell of the USSR iteration, and has little influence here or in Russia.

cordially,
New Pravda didn't have that much influence in 1969.
If I repeat myself, I apologize. My family and I were in the Soviet Union when the Manson murders occurred. Pravda, of course, ran a few articles about it. NONE of the Russians we talked to believed it had happened (the popular view there among the people was that nothing bad could ever happen in the US. It was the land of milk and honey.) They all said, "Oh, you can't believe that really happened. It was reported in Pravda. You can't believe anything you read in Pravda."

The effectiveness of their propaganda was never a match for ours.

Gill was also down on his luck. Fact was, he was barely keeping his head below water.
