They paid $80k they didn't need to specifically so no one could accuse them of taking something that wasn't theirs, and you used that payment as evidence of guilt.

The only way those folks would ever be happy...
would be if Bill and Hillary had renounced their citizenship and left the country. :-/ Otherwise, as you say, anything and everything they ever did was twisted to be some sort of character flaw at minimum, but usually some sort of evidence of some vast conspiracy... Cheers, Scott. |

/makes a note of who's being the asshole here. (Surprised, me? Not very.)

here, have a free fact or two
The president is allowed to keep foreign official gifts if their worth is under a certain threshold; gifts whose worth is over the threshold belong to the people of the United States and must be purchased at fair market price from the General Services Administration.wasnt any glossing of anything. You have to pay for your loot. They didnt cough up the money in a vacuum. Days later, the New York Times reported that the Clintons would return an additional $28,000 or more worth of gifts that donors complained had been earmarked for the White House permanent collection, not the Clintons’ personal use. Ultimately, the total worth of gifts returned by the Clintons to the U.S. government amounted to nearly $50,000, the Times later reported.removing shit that doesnt belong to you is theft in most places except when there is a Clinton involved then it become a "matter". Try this
See if you can make the strongest possible argument that the Clinton's did nothing wrong. Include describing how their opponents present completely opposite facts - eg: they paid for it, they didn't pay for it - as both proving their guilt. Then see if you can refute that. I know you won't, but the point of the exercise would be that you either don't understand the other side, or don't have an answer to it. -- Drew |

I understand just fine,
Nother hollers trump hotel emmoluments!! his bright and shining stars rented out the fucking lincoln bedroom for money. sheesh "Science is the belief in the ignorance of the experts" – Richard Feynman |

Emoluments are *foreign* gifts/awards/payments. HTH.

|
Umm ...
You think the strongest form of the argument that "they stole White House property" is to bring up a completely unrelated issue? -- Drew |
|
Oh, and another thing ...
You're the one who brought up emoluments. Which makes it extra-odd that you're the one who doesn't seem to know what they are. -- Drew |

I'll play, briefly.
The NYTimes has had an unhealthy obsession with the Clintons for far too long. Let's see what another source says: In general, presidents are “free to accept unsolicited personal gifts from the American public,” according to a 2012 report by the Congressional Research Service. Federal law requires that all gifts valued at more than $350 be disclosed in financial disclosure reports each year, but the president is free to keep them after moving out of the White House. OMG! There was some temporary confusion about whether the gift was personal or to the White House!! So Corrupt™!!11 Cheers, Scott. |
|
I'll play, briefly. Did you ever wonder why their "confusion" always ended up in their pockets?

You have a list of everything they didn't take that they could have?

You're trolling again.
Bill and Hillary left the White House 16+ years ago. Don't we have important things now to worry about? Cheers, Scott. |
