Yeah, it does seem like "just desserts" in a way.

But someone in their HOA messed up. Clearly those are the folks who are supposed to be handling those yearly taxes. (Of course, ultimately the owners are responsible.)

And I certainly wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of news like that. "I'm paying HOA fees for you to take care of this kind of thing. Don't tell me that I'm at fault!!"

Also, I'm reminded of stories of people who have land that's been in the family for hundreds of years and then some unknown entity who somehow bought the mineral rights showing up and clear-cutting and strip mining the place...

There are too many things that aren't transparent about real-estate.
