New Dunked iPhone owner (not moi) in need of heroic measures:
Hoping someone here knows of a Maestro-grade fixer (complete with micro-desoldering gadgetry) for rescuing photos; person has $means to pursue such.

Plot: dropped into usual water, pulled out at once natch. Local drying tricks tried, left in bowl of rice overnight (was far from any metro area.)
It's a vanilla iPhone-6 maybe 16? 32 GB. I no idea if the storage-RAM in these is non-volatile, as could be physically transferred to a working mobo. It Ought to be..

Next day, local so-so venues applied their drying rituals/machines, pronounced it unrecoverable. But moi knoze that in Murica there are decidedly-Few practitioners at that level ..who know shit about serious electronics.
(And I checked that link a while back, showing a Chinese place actively swapping out memory and upgrading from 16 to 256 GB etc. But this isn't China.) Not clear how to Google for such services, as there are so many pretenders.

Any tips mucho appreciated..
New Look up Rossmann repair.
He's got a channel on Youtube where he gives tutorials on how to do board-level repairs to macbooks etc.

TBH if it got very wet the NVRAM probably got shorted, and it's fucked.

But can't hurt to ask/try. Except in the wallet, where you will probably feel a sharp, stabbing pain. Anything under $200 is a bargain or a cowboy.
New wise words all, Thanks.
New Think she's screwed..
Unvarnished-truth seems to be that, virtually always (there are enough conducting paths that) NO DATA survives.
When I asked, in conclusion, "OK I get the message, it seems you are saying that on occasions past when you've tried for data: no success on any; is that the situation? "Yep, that's about it." :-/

Thanks for the addy, though; likely they Can R&R just about any of the sub-boards in these infernal devices; they just can't un-do One-shot-destruction, (the weenies..) She had pix of beloved dog, now nearing final-Taps, etc.

Does everyone have this problem? of communication with the 'lectronic-unwashed:

I avoid using the phrase "You Should!" yet believe I once explained to her ["Back-up" ]that *EVERY* one of these gadgets with vast seas of teensy transistors Will Fail
... some. day. only Q is When? (and for geeks: How?) {{sigh}}
Now I have to tell her.
New Right now, my teenage daughter
Her phone has 0k free space. Doesn't want to delete anything even if it's backed up online because "I want to have it with me." Hasn't been able to save new pictures for over a year.

sigh^2

New Physician heal.. ... er paddle her?

New Finally got her to back up her photos to her Google account
She's going on a trip next week and needs to take pictures.

New Network operator backup?
If this was on one of the major operators, they may have it backed up. e.g. VZW moves your stuffs to their cloud even if their backup application is not activated.
New Molto Grazie, may be her only hope
Passed on w/ fingers crossed. Am sure I'll hear, either way.
New I would assume that's the only way.
Assuming it won't even talk to a PC or Mac, I would assume that a remote backup is the only hope.

Didn't the recent kerfuffle about unlocking a dead shooter's iPhone (5c) tell us that later iPhone models were hardware encrypted and even swapping chips wouldn't let you get inside? (I can't find a link that says that, but that was my recollection.)

Here's hoping she was able to get what she needed via some sort of backup.

Cheers,
Scott.
