New Roku Streaming Stick: made of win
Got one of these for the telly in the bedroom, after personally experiencing the "meh" that is the Amazon Fire Stick and reading The Wirecutter's review.

Setup is slightly faffy (a bit of back and forth between a website and the UI on the TV) but straightforward enough.

Performance is good (much better than the Cisco CT8260 pile of shit that laughingly calls itself my TiVo) and the channel selection is huge. The ability to search across channels is just the tits.

For £30, I'd recommend it unreservedly.

Once I figure out how to get BBC Radio 6Music on it, it'll be perfect.
New Yes, the FireStick is underpowered
For a while we used it for Amazon Prime until I discovered that the PS3 had the Amazon app.

Until Amazon runs on Apple TV that's not an option for us. I've been thinking about a Roku Stick for a while though.

Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Anderson.
New Roku has Amazon and Netflix
And the apps aren't crap, either.

I think the Roku benefits, performance-wise, from being Not Android.
New Yep.
The only reason I bought a FireStick was Amazon was selling them for dirt and a lollipop.

Anything not Android benefits from performance, yes. :-)

New We don't have sticks, but we have Roku 3's and 4's and I agree in full.
