Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Was getting worse and worse...
Even at 40Hz, the flashing was slowly getting worse and worse over time. I was usually able to adjust the screen angle to make it go away, and I thought, Hmmm...

I took the back off and tried pressing down on all the ribbon cables I could find to make sure they were properly seated. Put the cover back on, and, Voila! No more flashing. Woot!

I guess the ribbon cable for the screen wasn't making good enough contact (though I didn't find one that specifically said "Display" or something like that).

I'll try 60Hz again sometime.

Fingers crossed that it stays fixed!

Cheers,
Scott.
New Finally fixed?
The flickering, etc., continued to get worse over time. I found a web page that talked about how to remove the trim and install a new screen. It's surprisingly easy. I messed around and tried to reseat the video cable on the screen. And it was better. Hmmm...

So this week I ordered a $20 video cable off of eBay. I just installed it and what do you know! The flickering is gone!

And only 1 screw left over! Woot!

Cheers,
Scott.
(Who still hasn't found a reasonably priced laptop better than this Toshiba Portege R835-P88 (8 GB RAM, 2x SSD)).
