Lots of people wanted Greece in the Euro whether they were ready or not.
Whatever the history is, problems with the tax system and corruption can'take be fixed in 6 months even if you have willing partners. Greece didn't have a willing partner to help them get growing again.
Atrios has explained all of this very well for years:
"People got no jobs and got no money." Greece's economy is built on tourism and shipping - which both dried up when the economy imploded. Things won't get better until people are working and have money to spend.
Until the troika gets out of their moralistic punishment mode, thing aren'the going to change, and as such, Greece's government will have no incentive to listen to their advice.
My $0.02.
Cheers,
Scott.
