A woman (kinda feminist new-agey, but whip-smart and with many fine ancillary qualities which I, as a gentleman, will not detail) with whom I was keeping company a quarter of a century ago related how a new mother in her circle invited her to a breakfast that was to feature a placenta-based omelette. She tactfully excused herself: "I'm so sorry, but I've gone vegan."
