New Could you set a server up claiming to be that domain?
--

Drew
New Of course you could - but . . .
. . it takes most of a day to set up a Windows 20xx server with Active Director, get it on the network, populate it with names and passwords and assign the needed rights - and we didn't have the name and password for administering the PCs until later.

It only took me about 1-1/2 hours to find a way to break security.
New Nope
You'll never get the security identifiers to match. I.e. you can duplicate the domain name, but the PCs and AD server will not recognize each other.

But that said, the funny looking login that worked was an NT4 style domain login whose credentials had been cached on the PC.
     Well, that was fun . . . - (Andrew Grygus) - (6)
You have entirely too much "fun". At least you'll get paid! :-) -NT - (Another Scott)
