Apparently the Knee Defender website has crashed under the strain...

Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Anderson.
New Is that what all that spam I've been getting is for?

New Spam-in-a-can turns ugly: profit -vs- Meat-needs. Meat loses.. (so far.)
New I'd say the airlines have a perfect right to ban these . . .
. . for "interfering with the designed function of in-flight equipment".

They can point to this incident as to how these things can cause flight diversions and delays.
New Yup.
New Re: "Knee Defender" prompts flight diversion
This product was discussed in the prologue to this This American Life show from about 2 years ago. During all my travels (at least 2 flights a week) from Oct 2012 until March 2014, I never saw it in use.

New putting both arms on the top of the reclined seat
putting head down on it with heehaw groans about how it helps my bad back (in the case of a guy). Same position but a hairy eyeball aimed at the chest of a female with laser like intensity usually gets my space back.

New Was one reason I got the train when I visited.
Although I was a) being a tourist and b) only hop-scotching around the north-east...

(Seat spacing in the Amtrak trains is considerably more than in aircraft.)

Wade.
New We don't have this problem on MoffAir.

New Yet another reason I fly only when necessary
It costs more and takes more time to drive, but I'll take that over bruised or cut knees any day. I hate that airline seats recline, there just isn't room.
