New An Idiot's Guide To Inequality
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/07/24/opinion/nicholas-kristof-idiots-guide-to-inequality-piketty-capital.html?_r=0

Interesting read. It's clear to anyone with

(a) a brain,
(b) an gramme of human compassion and
(c) a desire for the world to not dissolve into revolution and war

that the current fashion, for steering the majority of the world's wealth (and thus power) into the hands of a tiny minority of people who have no actual skills other than the acquisition of wealth, is unsustainable.

What I didn't know was that it's quite likely that the richest 85 people in the world have more wealth than the bottom half of humanity.

New Thanks for that one.
Alex

"There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that "my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge."

-- Isaac Asimov
New It's short; may it go viral. In time.
(I'd bet that few of us are likely to encounter a solitary soul who has actually read all of Piketty's tome.)
Nice that the meat was in the Intro to a book which only an Accounting PhD would read-through before.. grabbing a Pratchett novel for comic relief and a few endorphins for sanity.

I'll go with Door (c) too.. we Address This Matter head-on or we die-out before even the planet does (for all the other mammals too.)
It may well prove to have been the Final Test Question over all others save (saving the planet.)
Answer that one Wrongly and.. nobody much will be around to score the Test, eh?
