I read a story years ago about a reporter who traveled with Gretzky for a couple of weeks to do an in-depth profile. At one game the goalie was leaning against the post and Gretzky got a shot past on the inside from the circle.

After the game the reporter asked how he did it. Gretzky said that he saw there was a little gap, so he just had to stand the puck up on it side when he shot it. The reporter couldn't decide at first if he was getting his leg pulled, so he went to the tape and sure enough, the puck went through the gap completely vertical.
