Moffat has done well as show runner. I enjoyed Matt Smith's tenure. I'd have liked it better without River Song, but oh well.

I think Capaldi was an inspired choice. Check out The Thick of It if you don't know his work.

Rose was great eye candy, but she is no Doctor.
