New AP: First look at Sony QX10 lens/camera/gizmo.
http://www.androidpo...tial-impressions/

It sounds like a smart idea to me - why have yet another box with a screen if you can simply attach an intelligent lens to your smartphone (or use it remotely). It's a young product though, so has the expected limitations.

It'll be interesting to see if Canon and Nikon think there's a market here.

Of course, the screen is a small cost of a camera (it's mostly the sensor and the lenses that drive up the costs). But one can certainly put a much brighter lens and a much bigger sensor in something like this than in a normal smartphone.

Anyway, innovation is good.

Cheers,
Scott.
New Neat concept
Better would be a smartphone with jacks to plug in better lenses and mics. Keep the whole app and storage on the phone and keep upgrading the lens, just like the "real" cameras.

New If by "lens" you mean "lens and sensor", then yes.
New Yes, that

New Samsung are trying that.
Haven't seen any IRL yet, but I know they are out there. They've basically put an Android smartphone without the GSM radio into a bridge camera body.

New "AP"? Hey, that wasn't the Associated Press!
New AnPo vs AsPr? Yeah, our alphabet needs more letters!
Or, we need a larger Subject field. Maybe we should e-mail Admin and demand that he change it!!!1

;-)

Cheers,
Scott.
