New Problem with IE6
Just installed it last night per corporate mandate. Now the right-click->Open in New Window is not working. It opens a new window, but opens a blank page. I have to copy the link, spawn a new window, and past in the URL. Is this a security setting I have too high?

New Re: Problem with IE6
I don't think it is security
Jacked up privacy and security to the highest levels and still could
(Running here on 98 SE, 2000 SP2, and XP)

In NT 4, I have had problem with IE (5 or higher) not being able to run
more than one window without crashing often but open in new window still works

New Found it, it's a known bug -- and another issue
IE6 upgrades installed by IEAK over an IE5.5 or earlier install not installed by IEAK will have this problem. It's a quick fix (run 'regsvr32 urlmon.dll') and they've got a hotfix (sortf of) that will be incorporated into IE(6)AK shortly. Basically they forgot to re-register the URL handler.

Now, the other problem: If I have two IE windows open and use a link from my toolbar in one of them, then switch to the other window and click the same link, I will be switched back to the first window. Even if that site is no longer up in the first window. Ex:

  1. First window, click toolbar link for z.iwethey.org.

  2. Second window, click link for slashdot.

  3. Switch to first window, go to mail.yahoo.com.

  4. Switch to second window, click link for z.iwethey.org.

  5. I get switched to the first window, which loads z.iwethey.org.

New Me too
The links toolbar problem appears to be a [link|http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q241047|Known Issue]. This happened to me on a previous browser upgrade (IE4->IE5?)too, and I somehow convinced it to stop doing that, but I can't remember how. If it comes to me I let it be known

New Love their solution
"The workaround for this problem is not to try to do that."

New This may apply
(too lazy to test it)
one of the default settings in IE6 is reuse windows for launching shortcuts
you can unselect it in Tools Internet Options Advanced under Browsing

New Sort of "works"
Now anything from the link toolbar opens in a new window. I'm using the other workaround: drag the link to the address box and hit [enter].
