I can see.. sorta--how it could be that, in battles of yore--the effects of these pipes (however not-massed as here) might help strike ƒeare within an enemy
--especially on first hearing.

I haven't quite figured out their peculiar 'key'/but see that the scale is limited (as is the Std. bugle--here, anyway--which is in G.)
But you can do lots with that bugle (or up the brilliance by open valves on a B-flat-trumpet, instead of 1+3-valves == for 'G'.)
