Welcome to IWETHEY!

New You probably have an iMac8,1
Which is apparently compatible with Mountain Lion.

For the record, my upgrade to Lion was a complete pain in the ass: my external backup drive wasn't compatible and Lion ate the partition. So had I taken the common advice and backed up before a complete wipe I would have lost everything in the upgrade.

If you're not up for that sort of pain, just switch to Chrome. It's a much better browser than Safari and you'll get updates for it whether Apple wants you to or not.

-scott
Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Anderson.
New On the flip side...
...my upgrade was completely painless.

Remember: bad things happen to computers that belong to programmers. It's a rule of the universe.
New It does seem that way, doesn't it...
In this case it was a hardware issue however, and not something I had done to the installation while practicing my Dark Programmering Artz.

Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Anderson.
New Yes, Model A1224
Guess I'll have to ask Apple Store folk to be sure that no (recently discovered?) badness occurs re LIon or Mtn. Lion upgrade--and get reassured that my WD-'Studio' (tiny, shiny 2.5" box) Time Machine drive shall know what to do with its older records, at Lion install ... as it did, nicely 'twixt L. and Snow L.)

PITA for the d/l, on my crippled 400K Comcast BW. Maybe Store will sell me a CD of the sucker; would hate to have to schlep Klaatu / find place to park / waste half a day.
Will check out AS's linkie next..

Thanks for an encouraging 'compatibility' :-)
