Unless you get the Server. ;-)
Do you know if your iMac is one that had the Nvidia solder-bump issues?

Good luck getting your baby working again.

Good enough.
Though $220 seems a bit steep.
All it takes is a couple of suction cups and a proper screw driver.
$94 with shipping for a 1TB drive form NewEgg. About 3" of tape to hold the wires again, replacing the tape that was ruined or dried out.
Took me 10 minutes tops to put in a new drive and then about 1/2 hour of waiting around to install the OS on the drive.
But, I hope it works for you.

Re: Good enough.
To much work
Just let them do it
That price they will put the os back
So all I have to do restore from my back up drive

40 minutes?
10 minutes to replace the drive and 30 to install the OS...
After the drive its a 3-5 click process. Its the easy part.
Restoring from backups... that'll take a long while and be finicky.
Ehhh. Whatever floats your boat Dolla-Bill-man.

You should post that picture of the server HD wiring again.
You're an, um, outlier when it comes to working on computer hardware. ;-)

Heck...
I dunno if I have it anymore.
That was a 2001 for one of them... and 2004 for another.
Its been a while since I constructed a monstrosity like those.
Though I still have a 600MHz machine downstairs... though its toast. One drive took out a whole array of drives.

You is you
I put a new drive in my mother's iMac and it took me over an hour just to do the hardware portion. Yes, I had the suction cups, spudgers, tape, and everything else that was necessary.
Same $220 charge, though, which she didn't have so I was glad to spend the time for her.

this really sucks
okay so the Apple Store called it's not the hard drive it is the main logic board and it will cost 690 dollars plus tax
f*** I did not want to have to buy a new computer now but I don't think it's worth putting 690 in to it

OK I'm home setting up new iMac
Restoring from old hard drive
But the old hard drive is FireWire and USB 2
New Mac no FireWire it will take about 3 hours to set up by USB 2. :-(
Good thing I got a new back up drive that is thunderbolt and USB 3
