What will RedHat call its "32-bit" version of the OS, since it currently uses i386 to denote 32-bit arch for x86.

Same goes for Debian. 32-bit x86 is named i386.

Meh... I'm not sorry to see that base line go. It need to be *AT LEAST* i586 or even i686.

New Easiest to just update the name to 'i686'.
That name as a targeted archicture has been around for a long time. I do recall RH pre-build kernels defaulted to 'i686' pretty quickly. And this was the RH before the creation of RHEL and Fedora.
