When we first arrived, SO was plagued for ~ 2 seasons - I had somewhat less of the annoyance. YMMV but - it *may* not be an annual ordeal, after immune system makes a few 'innovations' -

My experience has been that my first season in a new location is usually the worst for allergy responses. Had pretty consistent results in Santa Barbara, Davis, Menlo, and, well, now here. Funny, Sausalito didn't seem to cause problems -- I guess I'm not allergic to mold....

That said, I've got a seriously gummed up eye at the moment, annoying.
