I can grok his sarcasm re the shallowness (and pervasiveness!) of pop-songs, sex that's more about infantile dominance and such. And 'neediness' in its shit-kickin basic form of weepy utterance (?) Sounds as if this parting was accompanied by some such regurgitated prose - upon which he choked. {sigh}

(I'm sure his screed seems less rambling and more coherent - only to someone who has had a similar experience ~ "gawd is that what you *really* 'think' ??" (and you hadn't even suspected that: s/he Does really think *that*, despite the previous er 'persona for daily consumption'))
