After all, why would you want to go for the phone with the most and best apps, the most and best accessories, and the longest-term software support? Hell, if I'm going to ditch the best (but sadly looking like it's fucked, long term) mobile UX, you can bet that I'm not falling for that Android "yeah, we'll still support OS updates on your phone in 18 months, honest injun" schtick again. (And fuck Blackberry with a rusty chainsaw. I've got one of those for work. It's a horror.)

You make a rational decision of what is available at the moment, but you have that 18 month non-upgrade ding against it. Not saying you should get an android, just it may be worth looking at yet you won't. When was the last time you went 18 month without a new phone?
