You donÂt need to have interviewed at Google to know about the infamous ÂGoogle tests, spoken of by the general population with a mix of reverence and terror, or the self-importance bordering on contempt exhibited by many of the companyÂs interviewers (who generally put candidates through many levels of phone-screens and interviews to determine whether theyÂre ÂGoogle materialÂ).
(Incidentally, IÂve personally heard of brilliant people who didnÂt get past the first level of GoogleÂs screening process, and mediocre people who made it all the way and scored a job there. IÂve never interviewed at Google myself.)
No, many of the Google interviewers don't care about either thing, they care about demonstrating that you are inferior to Your Godlike Interviewer. The method used to reach this goal is immaterial.
