Stupid Sysadmin tricks
setup chroot for ssh, make the directories, modify the sshd2_config files and stop and start the sshd, what happens after the stop command if you aint at the console. AAAHHF!!!!!!HFDHSKHFSO!!!!!!!SOI^$)$%&*+%*_@u()n!!!!!

/etc/rc.d/init.d/sshd restart
Relogin after your connection dies.

Use the shell.
/etc/rc2.d/S77sshd stop ; /etc/rc2.d/S77sshd start

sorry long night
sshd is restarted but will only allow one session. The second ssh connection is refused. Any ideas? thanx, Bill

*scratches head* Did you reply to the right post? My suggestion was to enter it all on one line, press Enter, get thrown off, reconnect. *shrug* Doesn't it work? I submit you might have a faulty sshd if you're still having problems.

Install Debian
ssh clients aren't killed on daemon restart.
Barring that, run Wade's trick, but within a 'screen' session, or as a 'batch' job, so that the controlling process doesn't die when your ssh session does.

You can change the configs to not have it do that.
Of course you know, this means you have make the "changes" before you go remote... ;)

Actually, more or less nothing happened to me. The login stayed alive.
I think ssh spawns a login shell, and then the shell runs by itself.
