New What is this?
Like the Dreamcast with the modem and keyboard? WebTV?
New What is ... what?
On and on and on and on,
and on and on and on goes John.
New box that sits in the corner that has a couple of nics on it
and takes multiple files types, storing them as if they were local drives.
thanx,

TAM ARIS QUAM ARMIPOTENS
New Computer with a network card/connection but no hard drive
or any other drive, save a networked one.

Almost NC's are the iMac, etc. No floppy, but network connection, but they have a hard drive and CD-ROM, so not quite a NC.

I am free now, to choose my own destiny.
New not necessarily....
.....it depends on the type of network appliance.

Client-side network appliances typically do not have
hard drives, but server-side appliances quite often
do have hard drives. There are also plenty of Linux-
based network appliances.

New different types of appliances....
There are different types of network appliances. For
example, I recently tried a Web content filtering solution
from Vericept that comes as an appliance that you plug
into the network. It monitors all traffic against your
Internet usage policy.
New Oh I get it.
I guess you could call most anything that needs a network to be useful a Network Appliance. A good example would be those new MP3 stereo components: as well as a stereo, they need an MP3 server to play their tunes from.

Wade.
