New MIT develops a general function anti-viral treatment
http://www.ll.mit.edu/news/DRACO.html
DRACO selectively induces apoptosis, or cell suicide, in cells containing any viral dsRNA, rapidly killing infected cells without harming uninfected cells. As a result, DRACO should be effective against virtually all viruses, rapidly terminating a viral infection while minimizing the impact on the patient.

Still early in testing, but it works in mice. If this carries through to humans it will be a major medical discovery.

New What could possibly go wrong?
Seriously, it's neat and important. Silver bullets scare me, though.

Especially after seeing the trailer for PotA today - http://www.youtube.c...tch?v=LaK6khs8aMw

;-)

Cheers,
Scott.
(Who enjoyed the 1968 version with Heston very much.)
