At 10:20 p.m., McCarthy left the Speaker's office and tersely informed reporters that there would be "no vote tonight." This is bad news for Boehner, he couldn't even muster the votes for a purely symbolic bill. And that is all this was, there is no way it would ever pass the Senate. Jay |

They'll eventually pass something, declaring a great victory
The debt ceiling is going to be raised eventually. Or made moot. The Republicans will find a way to declare victory - it's what they do.
I think Boehner will eventually lose the Speakership, but he may hang on through the election. Would Cantor want it at this point? Let John take the heat for a while... Cheers, Scott. |
