Welcome to IWETHEY!

New That's not an option
There's "Empty folders on exit" and "Confirm when expunging a folder". I've got the first unchecked and the second checked, so I have to manually empty the trash, which I do regularly, but the originals stay on the server.

New The the IMAP server is ignoring the commands.
I have been using Evolution for ages.

Even with Google its playing right, its google mail that chooses to fsck with things.

Something in your configuration of your IMAP server is screwed and ignoring the removal of deleted messages.

I had that turned on for a while... on my Courier IMAP server. Where a deleted messages was only flagged as deleted and ignored by the server, but in reality was still there.

Unless this is a new occurrence, its one thing you are going to need to check on.
New Re: That's not an option
Disclaimer: I actually don't use Evolution, just trying to help. :-)

Is this relevant?

Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Anderson.
New What a nightmare...
New Only slightly
It's good that I now understand the intended behavior really well, but it's still not doing it right. Time to send a question to my host's helpdesk.

New One more reason to discard it, perhaps?
I use Opera on several PCs as well as a webmail server to connect to a Courier IMAP server and everythings Just Works. It's been a long time since I tried Evolution on that server, but I do remember having scaling problems.

Wade.

New Ctrl-e
Expunge them, perhaps?
Sure, understanding today's complex world of the future is a little like having bees live in your head. But...there they are.
New Yup, that's what I've been doing
But the messages that are definitely not on my local instance are still on the server.
