Am I the only person here
who thinks that unity sucks?

|
no
Sure, understanding today's complex world of the future is a little like having bees live in your head. But...there they are.

It sucks, and was hard to remove

I didn't bother to remove it
It's small, and it's easy enough to just use the Classic setting (which is sticky) to get GNOME when you log in.

Not in Virtualbox
Gnome3 is still wonky in VirtualBox. So I guess I should have said Unity sucks, and Gnome3 is a bitch to remove.

Haven't seen it.
I use Debian and Gnome 2.x
I'm worried about Evolution though... after nearly 10 years of using it... its starting to get cranky and not do what its supposed to do. |
|
I gave up on Evolution a while ago.
It began showing a lack of intelligent design.

HAHAH!
I should *clarify*...
I mean the (formerly) Ximian Evolution Mail/Calendar/Contacts/other application. You crack me up adminzorz! |
|
That's the one I'm referring to...

I've never liked it.
It always felt like a Gnome version of Outlook. With *both* sets of problems that that implies...
Unfortunately, I really couldn't teach my father how to use Opera's email client; it was just too different from what he was used to (Eudora for those interested). Wade. Static Scribblings http://staticsan.blogspot.com/

Works for me [tm]
I keep trying to switch to Mac Mail, but the workflow is just so different I find it hard to deal with. I know if I had no choice but to immerse myself I'd get used to it and discover I like it better, but I need to be able to access everything from home and from work. And so far Evolution is the only client I don't hate that I can use in both locations.

Sad thing is I use Outlook at work
And I don't mind it. I've had a lot more problems with Evolution and Thunderbird, mainly because they don't deal well with Exchange servers.
Evolution is cack, though, beyond just the compatibility issues. Regards,

I avoid it when I can.
I have to use it for the calendaring, but I don't go to many meetings. I've always found Outlook seems to want to be it's own email culture and its developers don't look outside that for new features until they have to. And it always feels a few years behind current UI technology.
Fortunately, someone has installed the IMAP Connector for Exchange and I use Opera to talk to that. It struggles with the backend storage sometimes, but I don't know if that's a configuration problem or bugs in the connector (probably the latter). Wade. It's Exchange
They keep breaking IMAP.

That's what I usually figure.
I guess it's the Microsoft-centric view influencing their IMAP connector programmers. :-/
